The Sure Sheep. Perched on a hill and looking out over the countryside was Handley Sheep Farm. Farmer Handley was the well respected property owner of Handley Sheep Farm, the most famous supplier of wool in the country. |
The softest socks, sweaters, and scarves were made with Handley Wool. |
Yes, the farm was a happy place to be |
and the sheep would sing their happy song every day. |
Song: "Get Out There" It’s a beautiful day
Things are going our way
Got a lot to share
Gotta get out there
It’s a beautiful place
Puts a smile on your face
Take a breath of fresh air
Gotta get out there
You can be sure of that
You can be sure of this
One thing’s for sure
If you don’t join you’ll miss
Cause together we belong
Together we are strong
Join us for something that’s rare
Gotta get out there
Get out there (Song Ends)
Because the farm was so famous, all of the sheep were treated with the utmost care, but none were treated better than the Sure Sheep of Handley Sheep Farm. |
They lived in the best section of the stables and were so sure of themselves that they were filled with selfish pride and formed a close knit group to keep new sheep out. |
Any sheep who tried to join their group were put to a test. |
Sure Sheep #1: Okay, show us what you’ve got. |
New Sheep: (playing guitar) Do you like what you see? I’m the best I can be. |
Sure Sheep: You’re bad! |
Sure Sheep: You’re bad! You’re bad so go away! You can’t join our group today! |
(Dejected Guitar Sheep exits stage.) |
One day Farmer Handley found a new little sheep |
playing a banjo in a lonely pasture. The little sheep was looking for a place where he could play along with others. |
Farmer Handley: You’re a talented little fellow. Would you like to come with me to my farm? |
(The little sheep nods “yes”)
He named the sheep Tad
and brought him to his farm. |
As time passed, Tad grew up. He was welcomed into the farm by everyone but the Sure Sheep. |
Tad saw how they treated the other sheep and he didn’t want to be a part of their group.
Sure Sheep #1: Okay, show us what you’ve got.
New Sheep: (tap dancing) Everyone knows I’ve got tappin’ toes! |
Sure Sheep: You’re bad! |
Sure Sheep: You’re bad! You’re bad so go away! |
Sure Sheep: You can’t join our group today! |
Tad felt awful. The Sure Sheep were only making the other sheep nervous and keeping them from enjoying the fun of performing together. Tad made a promise to himself.
Tad : However I can, I promise to help others to not be nervous and encourage them to join in.
One day news swept through the stables.
Sheep 1: Farmer Handley sold the farm!
Tad stopped playing his banjo to witness the sign being hung on the barn door. |
Tad: “Handley Sheep Farm, Under New Management”.
Narrator: This was a sad day |
for all the farm animals and an uncertain fate for the farm.
Sheep 2: We’re going to miss Farmer Handley.
Sheep 3: The wool won’t be as good without him tending the farm!
Farmer Handley: Gather 'round everyone. |
I want you to know that I appreciate all of your hard work over the years. |
The new company that will be moving in |
is very nice and I hear that they’ll be building |
new stables and a gift shop. |
I’ll miss being here with you every day but I’m not gone forever. |
I will still come in and visit from time to time. |
Bye, bye for now and good luck. |
Sure Sheep: What will we do?
Sure Sheep #1: Sure Sheep Members, now more than ever we must stick together. There are going to be new facilities and we must make sure |
that we keep our spot in the front of the stables. |
Tad felt this was his moment to show the whole farm that if every sheep sang together they could show their enthusiasm to the new company. He made his way to the front of the stables to play his banjo. But before he could play one note the Sure Sheep chimed in. |
Sure Sheep: You’re bad! You’re bad so go away! You can’t join our group today! |
Tad was confused. Why didn’t the Sure Sheep want everyone to sing together? |
? He returned to his corner to keep practicing. He thought he was alone until he heard a voice.
Sam the Dog: Can I join you?
It was Sam the Dog. |
He was one of the nicest workers on the farm |
and Tad new him well.
Sam the Dog: Don’t let those old sheep get to you. I’ve been watching you practice your banjo |
and I think you’re talented. I think you’ve got what it takes to get this farm singing together. |
Hey! I‘ve got an idea! The new company has put me in charge of marketing. How would you like to lead the sheep of Handley Sheep Farm in a TV commercial? |
Narrator: Tad was so excited! Now he could play his banjo along with the other sheep. |
He was on top of the world as the cameras rolled.
Slate Sheep: Handley Sheep Farm commercial take one. (Slate claps)
Tad:
It’s a beautiful day
Things are going our way
Got a lot to share
Gotta get out there
Sure Sheep:
Handley Sheep Farm
Tad:
It’s a beautiful place
Puts a smile on your face
Take a breath of fresh air
Gotta get out there
Sure Sheep:
Handley Sheep Farm
Handley Sheep Farm
Yeah!
Narrator: The whole farm cheered when they were finished. He inspired the flock and now every sheep had become a Sure Sheep. |
Sam the Dog: You did good, kid. I knew you could do it! |
Narrator: Once the commercial aired, people came from miles around to see all of the sheep sing their happy song. |
Even Farmer Handley returned to hear his sheep performing together. |
From then on Tad helped others to not be nervous and encouraged them to join in, just as he promised.
Sure Sheep #1: Hey, Tad. Sorry about how we treated you. Can we join in?
Tad: Sure you can. Let’s do it from the top, everyone! |
All Sheep:
It’s a beautiful day
Things are going our way
Got a lot to share
Gotta get out there
It’s a beautiful place
Puts a smile on your face
Take a breath of fresh air
Gotta get out there
You can be sure of that
You can be sure of this
One thing’s for sure
If you don’t join you’ll miss
Cause together we belong
Together we are strong
Join us for something that’s rare
Gotta get out there
Every voice rejoice
And the flock will rock
Go on and take the dare
Gotta get out there
Get out there
